LONDON: British film producer and former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith, has reiterated her unequivocal support for a ceasefire in Gaza and a political solution for Palestinians, seeking to dispel controversies surrounding her earlier statements.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jemima stated, “For the avoidance of doubt, to those asking, I am unequivocally and passionately pro-ceasefire in Gaza and a political solution for Palestinians.” The clarification comes after Goldsmith faced significant criticism online for expressing a “both sides” perspective on the Israeli aggression against Palestine.

In her earlier post, she had written, “I stand with the innocent human beings on both sides of this conflict. Condemn both,” triggering a wave of global criticism. In a subsequent post, she emphasized standing with international law and human rights, stating, “There is no humanity in political tribalism.”

Jemima Goldsmith Clarify Her Position on Gaza Conflict

In her most recent statement on Friday, Jemima aimed to clarify her position, noting, “It is worth noting that I have worked for the UNICEF for more than 20 years and in that time I have supported campaigns to end violence against children all over the World.” She added, “This is the only time that the call for an end to the killing of thousands of innocent children has ever been remotely controversial.”

Highlighting her long-standing association with UNICEF, Jemima shared a post from the organization emphasizing the need for a complete and immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The UNICEF spokesperson stated, “The humanitarian situation in Gaza is so perilous that anything other than sustained pace and at-scale emergency aid will mean catastrophe for the children of Gaza.”

The renewed clarification from Jemima Goldsmith comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with over 15,207 Palestinians, including more than 6,200 children, have been killed in Israel’s bombardment of civilian buildings, including hospitals, in Gaza.
