ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday appointed Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan as the head of the constitutional bench in the Supreme Court.
The JCP, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and mandated to form constitutional benches, made the decision with a majority of 7-5.
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan is the fourth senior-most judge in the top court.
The constitutional bench will also include Justice Ayesha Malik to represent Punjab, while Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail will represent Balochistan.
Similarly, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi will represent Sindh, and Justice Musarrat Hilali will represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The judicial commission meeting was attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar, and a representative of the Pakistan Bar Council, Akhtar Hussain.
Apart from this, Senator Farooq H. Naik of the People’s Party, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed of the Muslim League (N), Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz of PTI also participated in the meeting.
