ABU DHABI: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) capital, Abu Dhabi, on Monday as part of his official visit to the Middle East. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and foster cooperation between Japan and the UAE.

Upon his arrival at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi, Kishida and the accompanying Japanese delegation were warmly received by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. The reception highlighted the importance of the visit and the commitment of both nations to enhancing their relationship.

Japanese PM’s Visit to Saudi Arabia

Kishida began his Middle East tour in Jeddah on July 16, where he reaffirmed the close bilateral ties between Japan and Saudi Arabia. Following his visit to the UAE, the Japanese Prime Minister will proceed to Qatar on July 18, further underscoring Japan’s commitment to engaging with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

During his day-long visit to the UAE, Kishida is expected to engage in high-level discussions with UAE officials to explore opportunities for cooperation across various sectors. The visit holds particular significance as Japan seeks to strengthen its ties with the GCC countries, including the UAE, and expand collaboration in fields such as energy, technology, and trade.

The visit also provides an opportunity for both countries to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. The UAE serves as a strategic partner for Japan, given its crucial role in the region’s stability and its strong economic ties with Japan.
