After a human head was found in the region where he vanished, it is believed that a fisherman in Japan was killed by a bear. Toshihiro Nishikawa, 54, was delivered by boat to a location on Hokkaido Island’s Lake Shumarinai, according to the Japan Times. According to the authorities, he went there alone to go fishing. The article also said that a boat operator employee later spotted a bear nearby and attempted to contact Mr. Nishikawa but was unsuccessful.
One bear was killed during a bear hunt that the town police organised, according to a report in the Japan Times.
Police are currently looking into whether the head they found belongs to Mr. Nishikawa, a resident of Okoppe, also in Hokkaido.
According to the outlet, the lake is highly-liked among local anglers who frequently visit it in search of Sakhalin taimen, a fish that is infrequently caught in Japan, as well as trout and Japanese smelt.
Town officials have issued an emergency alert after learning there may have been a bear assault.
In the statement, the government urged people to exercise caution when working in the fields, forests, or mountains close to where sightings had occurred. The grizzly bear, sometimes known as the Ussuri brown bear, is a regular sight in Hokkaido, Japan.
