ISLAMABAD: Japan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Mitsuhiro Wada Wednesday called on Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss ways and means to increase cooperation in improving the trade, investment, and economic ties between the two nations.
Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance, Shinji Yanagi, Vice Chairman Toyota Company, Secretary of Finance, and other key officers were also present in the meeting, said a press note.
Ishaq Dar briefed the envoy about the economic difficulties and priorities of the government.
He apprised him of the economic policies and reforms being implemented by Pakistan to lead the economy toward stability and growth.
Dar also expressed his views on the cordial ties between Pakistan and Japan and appreciated the latter’s investments in Pakistan.
He said the two nations enjoyed friendly ties bolstered with each passing day.
He said that Japan was one of the main development partners of Pakistan, and he firmly believed that the cooperation would further consolidate in various fields for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Opportunities in economic field
The minister highlighted potential investment opportunities in Pakistan and welcomed Japanese companies’ plans.
Envoy Wada Mitsuhiro lauded the pragmatic policies and actions adopted by the government and said that his country greatly valued its bilateral ties with Pakistan.
He expressed confidence in the government’s financial policies and assured that investment, business, and economic linkages between the two nations would further strengthen in the coming days.
