TOKYO: Japan has said that it is following with “serious concern” signals that North Korean forces are in Russia ahead of their possible deployment in Ukraine, AFP reported.
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi stated that the government of Japan is monitoring the deployment of troops by N Korea to Russia with serious concern, including the possibility that they may join in Moscow’s aggression against Ukraine.
Hayashi told the media person that the recent development of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia including with this development, not only invites the further deterioration of the situation in Ukraine, but it is seriously troublesome also from the perspective of its impact on the security of the region surrounding Japan.
He added that Japan will continue to collect as well as analyze relevant information and continue to work with the world for the complete implementation of relevant UNSC resolutions and the realization of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.
Seoul has claimed that about 3,000 North Korean troops are currently in Russia training, likely to deploy to the frontlines against Ukraine, with thousands more forces to be sent by December, AFP reported.
