ISLAMABAD: The Government of Japan has extended condolences to Pakistan following the devastating monsoon floods that claimed over 320 lives in the northern regions of the country.
In an official message sent on August 16, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru conveyed his sympathies to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, expressing sorrow over the tragic loss of life caused by the floods.

“I am deeply saddened to learn that many precious lives were lost in the flood that occurred in the northern part of Pakistan,” Prime Minister Ishiba stated. “On behalf of the Government of Japan, I pray for the souls of the victims and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I would also like to express my sincere wishes for the swift recovery of the injured.”
The monsoon season has caused severe flooding in several northern districts, resulting in widespread destruction and displacement.
