TOKYO: Japan’s Foreign Minister, Yoshimasa Hayashi, paid a courtesy call to Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Monday, as the Jordanian monarch made an official visit to Japan.
The two leaders discussed several issues including the situation in the Middle East, the conflict between Israel and Palestine, events in East Asia, and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
According to the Japanese foreign ministry, Minister Hayashi and King Abdullah II exchanged views on the response to North Korea, and agreed to continue close cooperation on making efforts towards regional and global peace and stability.
During the meeting, Minister Hayashi welcomed the Jordanian King and Queen Rania to Japan and emphasized the importance of the relationship between Japan and Jordan in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.
Japan desires further enhance ties with Jordan
Hayashi also expressed his desire to further enhance the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
King Abdullah II expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Japanese government and stated that he was pleased to visit Japan again.
He also expressed his willingness to utilize his visit to deepen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The meeting between the two leaders comes at a time of great turmoil in the Middle East, with ongoing conflicts and tensions between various regional powers.
The situation in Ukraine and the ongoing crisis in North Korea also remain major global concerns.
The visit of King Abdullah II to Japan is seen as an important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Japan and Jordan, and to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
