The Japanese Embassy in Islamabad hosted a pre-departure orientation for the scholarship recipients on Friday. At the event’s start, Pakistani alumni of Japanese universities shared their knowledge and experiences of living and studying in Japan with the young scholarship grantees.

At the conclusion of the program, Ito Takeshi, Chargé d’Affaires hosted a reception at the Ambassador’s residence to honor MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) members and bid farewell to the new scholarship recipients.

Ito Takeshi, Chargé d’Affaires, addressed the reception, congratulating the new scholarship recipients on their selection for the prestigious MEXT research scholarship and advising them to pursue their studies with zeal during their stay in Japan. He described scholarship awards as a good opportunity for young scholars to learn, not only about education, but also about Japanese culture and traditions.

The Chargé d’Affaires expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the young Pakistani recipients of this scholarship, which is funded by the Japanese government. He informed the students that they would be traveling to Japan for educational and cultural purposes.

He advised them to stay focused, return with vast knowledge and rich experiences, and serve as friendship bridges between Japan and Pakistan.

It is worth noting that the MEXT Research Scholarships were established by the Japanese government in 1954. Since the first Pakistani student went to Japan in 1963 on scholarship, many students from across Pakistan have benefited from this scholarship and returned to Pakistan after completing their PhD/Master’s degrees in Japan.
