NEW YORK: James Gunn, the Hollywood director known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Comics projects, is planning a crossover between the two franchises in about a decade.

Gunn spoke about his idea of bringing characters from both film franchises into a single movie in an interview with iHeartRadio. He also mentioned that he had discussed the idea with the heads of both Marvel and DC.

“I would be really, really happy to do a Harley Quinn and Groot movie; that would be extremely exciting for me,” Gunn said. “They know everybody is open to everything, but whether anything would ever happen, who knows?”

However, Gunn may face obstacles in bringing the DC and Marvel franchises together, given that different companies own them. Marvel is owned by Disney, while Warner Bros. produces DC Comics projects.

Gunn has directed both Marvel and DC films, including the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy and “The Suicide Squad”. He was also involved in “”Doctor Strange”, Thor: The Dark World”, and “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. His upcoming DC Universe project is “Superman: Legacy”.

James Gunn predicts crossover to take a decade to happen

Gunn predicts that the crossover would take around a decade to happen. “I think that it would look like something that would be happening in about 10 years.

Not today. Because we have a whole bunch of other DC movies we need to tell. But yeah, I think it could be cool,” he said.

A crossover between the MCU and DC Comics franchises would be a significant event for comic book fans and moviegoers alike, as characters from the two franchises have been long-standing rivals in the comic book world. No official and formal announcement has been made regarding the crossover as of yet.
