DUBAI: Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan expressed his joy in his first message after winning the Best Actor award at the 2024 International Indian Film Academy Awards. This marks his first award in eight years, recognizing his dual role as Captain Vikram Rathore and Azad in the 2023 action-thriller “Jawan.”
During his acceptance speech, Khan shared his excitement, stating, “I think I have a little happiness from the audience this year because I worked (again) after a long time.” He also revealed his enthusiasm for accolades, saying, “I love awards, I’m greedy about awards. I just want to tell you it’s good to be back.”
Acknowledging his wife Gauri Khan’s contributions as a producer, he humorously remarked, “Somebody reminded me that money needs to be put into a film. So I want to thank Gauri. She may be the only wife who’s spending more on the husband than the other way around.”
After a four-year hiatus from films, the 58-year-old actor returned to the big screen last year with three movies: “Jawan,” “Dunki,” and “Pathaan.” This comeback follows a challenging period for Khan, as it came after his son Aryan Khan’s arrest by Indian police. He is now preparing for his upcoming film “King,” set to be released in 2026.
