MERIDA: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday warned Israeli and said that international law does not permit the mass evacuation demanded by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at a meeting of his Socialist Party in Merida, Sanchez said that while Israel has the right to defend itself, it must do so within the boundaries of international humanitarian law, which does not authorize the forced evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza, as affirmed by the United Nations.
Israel Warns Gaza Residents to Evacuate
Israel had earlier issued warnings to residents in the northern Gaza Strip, urging them to evacuate ahead of an expected ground offensive. The Israeli airstrikes has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 2,200 innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza, sparking international concern and condemnation.
Expressing his deep concern, Sanchez lamented the anxiety and instability caused by the recent Israeli violence and called for a solution that involves the creation of a Palestinian state. He stressed the importance of finding a resolution to the conflict that respects international law and ensures the safety and rights of all parties involved.
