TEL AVIV: Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Iran’s massive missile attack on Israel “a big mistake” and promised to make Tehran “pay for it.”

According to AFP, Netanyahu said that Tehran made a major mistake tonight and will pay for it.  Netanyahu warned “Whoever attacks us, we attack them.”

Following Washington said it was discussing a joint response with Israel, Iran’s chief of staff warned that Iran would hit Israeli infrastructure if its country is attacked. Iran’s chief of staff promised to hit infrastructure across Israel if its territory is attacked, following Iran fired about 200 missiles at its arch-enemy. Major General Mohammad Bagheri told state TV that the barrage will be repeated with bigger intensity and all infrastructure of the Israel will be targeted.

The Israeli military said Iran fired over 180 missiles towards Israeli territory on Tuesday after deadly Israeli raids against Hezbollah in Lebanon. “IDF (Israeli army) systems have identified approximately 180 missiles fired towards Israeli territory from Iran,” the Israeli military said.

However, Iranian media reported that it fired 200 missiles at Israel including hypersonic arms for the first time. Iranian press carried online videos of what they described were missiles being fired, which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated were targeting “three military bases” around Tel Aviv and other bases. The missile attack comes in the wake of Israel’s ground operations in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, following the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli airstrike last week.
