Israeli Strikes Kill Solider in Syria
According to the SANA news agency, “At around 11:35 p.m. the Israeli enemy conducted an air strike with several missiles… hitting Aleppo airport and other sites in Aleppo,”.
“A person was killed, and seven people were injured, including two civilians,” SANA reported. It said that the “airport was put out of service” after the strikes.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, ” several blasts were reported in the area of Aleppo airport and the Nayrab military airfield in the province… which also led to a fire at a weapons depot”.
The UK-based war monitor added there was “heavy material damage at the airport”. The war monitor said, “Israeli missiles fell on defence factories in the Aleppo province, “causing material harm”.
Israel had launched hundreds of strikes on Syrian territory during a decade of war in the country.
While Israel hardly comments on the strikes it conducts on Syria, it has frequently said it will not permit Iran to extend its footprint in Syria.
On March 22, an Israeli strike damaged a suspected arms depot at Aleppo airport. Similarly, on March 7, three persons were killed in an Israeli strike on the airport that also brought air traffic to stop. AFP
