DAMASCUS: At least four Syrian troops were killed and four others injured in Israeli air strikes near Damascus early Monday, official media said, quoting a military source.
The state-run news agency SANA stated, “At 2320 GMT, the Israeli enemy conducted an air assault from the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting parts in the neighborhood of Damascus,”.
The assault killed “four troops and injured four others”, it added, reporting unnamed material harm and saying that Syrian air defences also intercepted several missiles. AFP reported hearing the sound of blasts near Damascus.

During over a decade of war in Syria, Israel has carried out hundreds of air strikes on its land, targeting Syrian military positions.

Earlier, AFP reported that six men of Syrian forces were killed in three separate attacks on government positions in the northwest region.
APP quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying six soldiers of Syria were killed and two injured in three separate attacks. It added that these attackers were carried out by militant groups and its allies.
