GAZA CITY: At least 39 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza in the past 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. This includes the body of one victim recovered from the rubble of destroyed buildings.
The ministry also reported that 124 others were injured in the latest wave of Israeli attacks. Since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed at least 50,183 people in Gaza, with another 113,828 people wounded.
The strikes come amid escalating violence, as Israeli forces continue their military operations following the end of a two-month ceasefire on March 18.
Since then, over 830 people have been killed, and nearly 1,800 injured. Thousands more remain missing under the rubble, presumed dead, as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that 142,000 Palestinians have been displaced since Israel resumed its military operations on March 18.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military reported intercepting a projectile fired from central Gaza, which landed near the Zimrat community on the Gaza border. No casualties were reported from the incident.
US strikes in Yemen
In Yemen, the United States has continued its airstrikes targeting Houthis, who have launched multiple attacks on US warships in the Red Sea and on military sites in Israel.
Houthi-affiliated media reported that at least 17 airstrikes hit the Saada and Amran provinces in northern Yemen on Wednesday.
The US has been carrying out air raids in the region since March 15, citing the Houthis’ targeting of vessels in vital shipping routes and their support for Hamas in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
The Houthis, in retaliation, claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on US and Israeli military targets, including a strike on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea and drone attacks on military sites in Tel Aviv.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree warned that the group would continue to confront US and Israeli forces, stating that their campaign against Israeli naval operations would continue until the blockade on Gaza is lifted.
The US airstrikes have killed at least 53 people in Yemen, with dozens more wounded.
