BEIRUT, Lebanon: A Lebanese security source said Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif was killed in an Israeli strike on a building Sunday in a densely populated central Beirut.

“The strike on Ras al-Nabaa killed Hezbollah media relations official Mohammed Afif,” the security source told AFP, requesting anonymity as they were not authorised to brief the media.

A Hezbollah official also confirmed Mohammad Afif’s killing in an Israeli strike in central Beirut, Al Jazeera reported.

The strike on a building in a densely populated district of the Lebanese capital also injured three others, Al Jazeera reported citing officials. There was no evacuation order for the area published on the Israeli military spokesperson’s account on social media platform X before the strike.

The strike hit the Ras al-Nabaa neighbourhood where many people displaced from Beirut’s southern suburbs by the Israeli bombardment had been seeking refuge, Al Jazeera reported.

Afif was Hezbollah’s top media relations officer and the point of contact for the organisation known among many journalists in Beirut.
