BEIRUT: At least seven people have been killed in an Israeli attack on Nabatieh in Southern Lebanon, western media reported on Wednesday. Reuters cited two security sources as saying that the attack appeared to be targeted an emergency and relief center in Hebbariyeh village in Southern Lebanon.
Earlier, local media reported that Israeli air attack near two towns in northeast Lebanon killed three Hezbollah fighters.
Meanwhile, Israeli air attacks killed dozens of Palestinian people at both ends of Gaza overnight, targeting the area around Al Shifa hospital in the north and Rafah on the southern edge where over million people have sought refuge. In the south, more than 2.3 million Gazans are taking refuge in Rafah against the border fence with Egypt, health officials said 18 people including 8 children were killed in an airstrike on the Abu Nqaira family home.
Health officials in Gaza said since October 7, more than 32,333 Palestinians have been killed and more than 74,694 wounded in Israel’s offensive, including 107 Palestinian people killed in the last 24 hours.
The UN says Gaza is on the verge of starvation, with the entire population suffering severe food shortages, half at the highest level of devastation, and mass death imminent unless more help arrives immediately.
On Monday, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) approved a resolution demanding an immediate truce between Hamas and Israel, following Washington abstained from the vote.
Israel criticized the US’s decision not to deploy its veto over the step, which Israel said would not change anything on the ground. However, Hamas welcomed the UNSC resolution, saying that it affirms readiness to engage in immediate prisoner exchanges on both sides.
