BEIRUT: Three people including an Iranian military adviser were killed in an Israeli strike on a villa on the coast of Syria on Friday, said a monitor. This was the third day in a row that Israel has attacked Syria.

The villa, housing a group associated with Iran, was completely demolished by the violent explosions that reverberated through the city center.

According to reports from the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Iranian military adviser and two other non-Syrians lost their lives in the attack. Israel’s airstrikes in Syria have been frequent since 2011.

The strikes have increased since Israel’s war with Palestinian group Hamas began on October 7.

Israel has said that it will not allow Iran to expand presence in Syria. Tehran claims its forces are in Syria at the invitation of the Damascus government, solely as advisers.

The Syrian conflict, which erupted in March 2011 following the government’s harsh crackdown on anti-government protests, has resulted in over half a million deaths and the displacement of millions of people.
