DAMASCUS: At least 12 were killed in an overnight Israeli attack that targeted a factory near Aleppo in the north of Syria, an NGO said on Monday. AFP reported that 12 pro-Iranian fighters of Syrian and foreign nationalities were killed in an Israeli air strike on a position in the town of Hayyan, setting off strong blats in a factory. AFP cited the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying that 12 people were killed in the Israeli strike in the area.
In a statement, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said that “after midnight… the Israeli enemy launched an airstrike from the southeast of Aleppo, targeting various positions” near the city, saying that “the aggression caused several martyrs and physical damage”.
According to the Observatory — which is based in London, but maintains a vast network of sources inside Syria — firefighters and rescuers were deployed to the site to treat the wounded and contain blazes caused by the attack.
The NGO stated that Hayyan is “controlled by pro-Iranian groups composed of foreigners and Syrians”.
