ALEPPO: An Israeli airstrike hit the airport of Syria’s government-held city of Aleppo injuring five people, a war monitor said, days after a similar attack targeted Aleppo and Damascus airports.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman said that an Israeli air strike coming from the direction of the sea hit Aleppo airport.
Syrian state media also confirmed the attack, with state media reporting an Israeli aggression hitting Aleppo International Airport, according to AFP.
On Thursday, Israeli attacks knocked Syria’s two main airports of Damascus and Aleppo out of service, in the first such strike since a weekend Hamas assault on Israel triggered fierce fighting.
Saturday’s strikes targeted the airport hours after it went back into service, knocking it out of service again, said the war monitor, which has a wide network of sources inside the country.

Israeli attacks have repeatedly caused the grounding of flights at the airports in the capital city of Damascus and northern city Aleppo, both of which are controlled by the government of war-hit Syria.
Israel’s attacks on Syria
During more than a decade of conflict in Syria, Israel has launched hundreds of air attacks on its northern neighbour, primarily targeting Lebanese Hezbollah fighters as well as Syrian army positions.
The strikes were the second such attack on the airports in Syria after the eruption of the latest war between Israel and Palestine.
