ISLAMABAD: Three Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli bombing of a house in Deir el-Balah, Al Jazeera reported on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli military killed at least 92 Palestinians, including 56 aid seekers, in attacks across the Gaza Strip.
Gaza’s Government Media office stated that over 22,000 humanitarian aid trucks are waiting outside the Gaza Strip, as just 36 trucks entered the enclave on Saturday.
“Humanitarian corridors”
Hamas said it is open to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delivering aid to Israeli captives in Gaza if Israel opens “humanitarian corridors” to deliver aid to all people in Gaza, according to Al Jazeera.
AFP reported that, atop air strikes, displacement, and hunger, an unprecedented water crisis is unfolding across Gaza, heaping further misery on the Palestinian territory’s residents.
Gaza was already suffering a water crisis before nearly 22 months of war between Israel and Hamas damaged more than 80 percent of the territory’s water infrastructure.
“Sometimes, I feel like my body is drying from the inside, thirst is stealing all my energy and that of my children,” AFP cited Um Nidal Abu Nahl, a mother of four living in Gaza City as saying.
Israel’s war on Gaza
Though Gaza’s water crisis has received less media attention than the ongoing hunger one, its effects are just as deadly.
“Just like food, water should never be used for political ends,” AFP cited UNICEF spokeswoman Rosalia Bollen as saying.
She said that, while it’s very difficult to quantify the water shortage, “there is a severe lack of drinking water”.
“It’s extremely hot, diseases are spreading and water is truly the issue we’re not talking about enough,” she added.
Opportunities to get clean water are as dangerous as they are rare.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 60,839 people and wounded 149,588.
