RAMALLAH: Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian teenager near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Mostafa Amer Sabah, aged 16, was killed by Israeli bullets in the town of Teqoa, said a statement from the ministry. The Israeli military immediately did not comment on the incident.
The killing came just a day after Israeli soldiers shot dead a Palestinian man who the army claimed had attempted to carry out a car-ramming attack in the northern West Bank. The death of Sabah brings the number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this year to 100.
Clashes in West Bank
The conflict has also claimed the lives of 19 Israelis, one Ukrainian, and one Italian during the same period, according to an AFP count based on Israeli and Palestinian official sources. The figures include combatants and civilians, including minors, on the Palestinian side, and mostly civilians, including children and three members of the Arab minority on the Israeli side.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing for decades, with the status of Jerusalem and the issue of Palestinian statehood being among the key points of contention. Despite various attempts at peace talks and negotiations, the situation remains volatile, with frequent clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
