Israeli Forces Kill Five More Palestinian Civilians in West Bank Raid

RAMALLAH: Israeli forces launched a raid on the Nur Shams refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of five more Palestinian civilians, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The incident occurred as the Israeli army carried out raids on the camp, intensifying tensions in the region.

The death toll from the raid in the West Bank city of Tulkarem rose to five after the announcement of the deaths of two men, aged 19 and 21, in a local hospital, the health ministry reported. Witnesses indicated that the Israeli operation at the camp started during the night.

Amin Khader, the director of Thabet Thabet hospital, confirmed that “five people arrived at the hospital with wounds, including one to the head.”

Violence in the West Bank has surged since the outset of Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Health officials report that over 290 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank since October 7.

The West Bank, under Israeli occupation since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, has witnessed increased military actions, with Jenin being a focal point of repeated raids in recent months resulting in numerous casualties.

The broader offensive by Israel in Gaza has been marked by significant human losses, with the government reporting that the Israeli bombardments has killed more than 19,000 Palestinian people, mostly women and children.
