GAZA CITY: At least five Palestinians, including a young schoolgirl, were killed and several others injured in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to medical officials and local authorities.

In northern Gaza, two men lost their lives and five others were wounded when an Israeli strike targeted a group of civilians near Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp. Medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City identified the victims as Abdullah Mohammed Saleh, 24, and Ahmed Mohammed Saleh, 36.

In a separate incident in the south, a Palestinian man was killed after an Israeli drone dropped a bomb near the Abu Hamid roundabout in Khan Younis, according to local medical officials.

According to Anadolu Agency, since the truce took effect, nearly daily incidents of shelling and live fire have reportedly resulted in the deaths of 736 Palestinians and injuries to more than 2,000 others.

Earlier in the day, a tragic incident unfolded in northern Gaza when a third-grade student, Ritaj Rayhan, was killed by Israeli gunfire while inside her classroom at Abu Ubaida bin al-Jarrah School.

The Palestinian Education Ministry condemned the attack, highlighting the growing risks faced by civilians, particularly children, amid ongoing hostilities.

Another fatality was reported in the Bardawil area of Al-Mawasi, west of Rafah, where 33-year-old Youssef Khalil Mansour was killed in a drone strike. The latest violence comes despite an existing ceasefire agreement, which, according to Palestinian sources, has been repeatedly breached.

The broader conflict, which escalated sharply on October 8, 2023, has had a devastating toll on the enclave. Palestinian authorities report that more than 72,000 people have been killed and over 172,000 injured, while approximately 90 per cent of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed.

The continued attacks have raised serious concerns about the durability of the ceasefire and the worsening humanitarian situation in the densely populated territory.
