GAZA: At least 31 people were killed in the Gaza Strip on Sunday as Israel intensified strikes on the war-hit Palestinian territory.

According to health authorities in Gaza Israel’s 20-month war has killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians and displaced more than 90 percent of the population.

Ship carrying aid nears Gaza

A Freedom Flotilla Coalition aid ship with activists on board is expected to arrive at the Gaza coast by Monday.

It aims to deliver aid to the Strip, which is under Israeli blockade, which activists say is illegal under international law.

Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz said Sunday that Israel wouldn’t allow anyone to break its naval blockade of the Palestinian territory.

European lawmakers are calling for safe passage for the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.

Gaza hospitals faces fuel shortage

The director of al-Shifa Hospital has warned of shutting down the medical facility due fuel shortage risking the lives of 300 kidney patients.

“We are just hours away from having to shut down the hospital if fuel is not delivered,” he told al-Jazeera.

He added three hundred patients suffering from kidney failure are at serious risk if they do not receive dialysis treatment. “Without electricity, we are facing a real catastrophe inside the hospital,” he said.

He said: We are working closely with the World Health Organization through a crisis cell to address the electricity shortage.

Israel demolishes more Palestinian buildings

For the third consecutive day, Israeli forces have carried out demolitions in the Tulkarm refugee camp, located in the northern West Bank—an area that has seen ongoing military operations since January.

On Sunday, Israeli bulldozers resumed the demolition of multiple residential buildings within the camp. The operation is part of a broader plan to demolish 58 structures in Tulkarm and 48 more in the nearby Nur Shams refugee camp.

According to the Wafa news agency, more than 250 housing units and dozens of commercial properties have already been destroyed across both locations.

Residents report that an entire residential area in the Tulkarm refugee camp has been reduced to rubble in recent days, with the debris blocking access to nearby buildings.

Death toll in Gaza continues to rise

The death toll from Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has climbed to 54,880, with 126,227 people injured since October 7, 2023, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

Since the ceasefire was broken on March 18, Israeli forces have killed 4,603 Palestinians and wounded 14,186 others, the ministry reported.

In the most recent 24-hour period, at least 108 Palestinians were killed and 393 injured in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip.
