BEIRUT: Israeli attacks hit three branches of a Hezbollah-associated financial institution in Beirut on Sunday, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported.
According to media reports, the attacks hit Al-Qard Al-Hassan branches in the Hay Al-Sellom, Burj Al-Barajneh as well as Ghobeiry areas of Beirut’s southern suburbs, according to NNA.
The NNA reported that evacuations were underway in Hermel, where compounds near an Al-Qard Al-Hassan branch were being cleared. Elsewhere, the Baalbek Government Hospital in the Beqaa area moved patients to safer areas further away from a compound linked with the financial institution across the street, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said. It added that the hospital continues to function normally.
Israeli attacks in Lebanon killed around 16 people and wounded 59 on Saturday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said. The ministry stated on Sunday that most of the deaths were in southern Lebanon with additional injuries in the Beqaa area.
Since Israel ramped up its attacks against Hezbollah on September 16, around 1,802 people have been killed and about 9,330 wounded, CNN reported.
The heavy attack continued Sunday, with Israel launching airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and in towns close to the Lebanese-Israeli border.
