RAMALLAH: The Palestinian government’s media office in Gaza has reported that Israeli attacks have resulted in the destruction of at least 380 mosques in the besieged territory. The statement emphasizes that some of the mosques targeted date back over 1,000 years, representing a significant loss of cultural and historical heritage.
The media office also highlighted the impact on religious practices, noting that the destruction of mosques has led to the disappearance of the call to prayer from numerous neighborhoods throughout the Gaza Strip. In addition to the mosques, the statement mentioned that three churches have also been destroyed by Israeli army attacks.
Condemning the destruction of places of worship, the media office called on religious bodies worldwide to denounce these actions. The report underscores the broader humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where ongoing Israeli attacks have resulted in significant casualties and strained the territory’s healthcare system.
