BEIRUT: A Lebanese security personnel was killed by Israeli fire on an army post near the country’s southern border Tuesday, the military said, the first such death since cross-border attacks started in October.

The Israel-Lebanon border has seen increasing exchanges of fire since the war broke out between Israel and Hamas. “An army position in the… Adaysseh region was attacked by the Israeli enemy, leaving one soldier martyred and three others wounded,” the Lebanese military said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that Israeli strike also killed a Syrian labourer when it hit the farm where he worked. The local media reported that Israeli shelled and conducted air strikes on southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah also claimed assaults on Israeli positions. Over 110 people have been killed on the Leban since October. Israel said that nine Israelis including soldiers have been killed in the current tension between the two sides.
