WASHINGTON: Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Michael Herzog, confirmed on Sunday that an unknown number of Americans are among the hostages taken by Hamas during the recent attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip.
In an interview with CBS News, Herzog stated that while he understands there are Americans among the hostage soldiers, he does not have specific details.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also addressed the situation, stating that the administration is actively working to verify reports about US citizens being among the dead and captive individuals in the surprise Hamas assault that began on Saturday.
The Israeli authorities have confirmed that soldiers have been taken hostage, but exact numbers and nationalities have not yet been confirmed.
