GAZA CITY: Two more journalists were killed on Sunday in Gaza as an Israeli air strike targeted a car in the besieged Palestinian territory. Mustafa Thuria, a video stringer for the AFP news agency, and Hamza Wael Dahdouh, a journalist with the Al Jazeera television network, were killed while traveling in a car, the Gaza health ministry and medics said.

Hamza’s father, Wael al-Dahdouh, who serves as Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in the Gaza Strip, was recently wounded in a separate strike. Tragically, he had lost his wife and two children to another Israeli strike in the early weeks of the Israeli military bombardment.

Over 77 Journalists Killed in Gaza

Mustafa Thuria had been contributing to AFP since 2019. The loss of these journalists adds to the toll on media workers during the ongoing Israeli bombardments. By December 31, at least 77 journalists and media workers had lost their lives since October 7, as reported by the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists. Out of the 77 casualties, 70 were Palestinian, four Israeli, and three Lebanese.
