BEIRUT: The Israeli army on Saturday warned inhabitants of south Lebanon “not to return” to their houses amid conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Israeli troops continue to “target Hezbollah posts in or near your villages,” Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee claimed on social media. “For your own security, do not return to your houses until further notice.”

Israel is engaged in a multi-front war as it continues to battle Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. In recent days, Israeli army has launched an intense ground and air attack in northern Gaza, especially in and around the city of Jabalia.

On Saturday, Israeli authority called on locals of the area around Sheikh Radwan, south of Jabalia refugee camp, to evacuate.

Meanwhile, Lebanese group Hezbollah has also issued warning to Israelis to stay away from military sites in residential areas in the north of Israel.

AFP cited Hezbollah statement as saying, “Israeli enemy army uses the homes” of Israelis in north Israel, and has army bases inside residential “neighborhoods in major occupied cities such as Tiberias, Haifa, Acre”. The group warned Israelis from being near these army gatherings to preserve their lives.

Earlier on Friday, Lebanon health ministry said that 60 people were killed and 168 others wounded in the last 24 hours. This update came just hours following Israeli forces fired on the headquarters of UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, injuring two peacekeepers for the second consecutive day.

These latest figures bring the total death toll from the current conflict between Hezbollah and Israel to 2,229, with 10,380 injured over the past year.
