ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi has said that the situation called for an urgent ceasefire as the confrontation between Israel and Palestine would further increase the miseries of the people, local media reported on Saturday.

In a statement via social media, the President said, “I am deeply disturbed over the escalation of violence between Palestine and Israel. There should be maximum restraint to strop further violence and loss of lives.”

The President asked the world to play its active role to stop both sides from further escalating the violence and work for a long-term peaceful resolution of the issue as UN resolutions and global law.
