MANAMA: Israel has formally opened its diplomatic mission in Bahrain, three years after both sides normalized relations, western media reported on Monday.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen participated in an official ceremony for the opening of the embassy during a visit to Manama. He was accompanied by a delegation of businessmen and government officials.
Speaking at the ceremony the Israeli FM said that both sides have agreed to work together to enhance the number of direct flights, the tourism, the trade volume, the investments.
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani on the occasion said Bahrain has shared commitment to security and prosperity for all the peoples of our region.
The normalization deal between Bahrain and Israel was part of a series of agreements, known as the Abraham Accords, which were also signed with some other Arab states.
