RIYADH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned repeated intrusions by Israeli troops and settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, Arab media reported on Saturday.

In a statement issued after an extraordinary meeting called by Jordan and Palestine, the Organization of Islamic Conference termed the incidents as a grave escalation, and denounced continued aggression by Israeli forces on the holy city, as well as assaults on worshippers, including children and women.

OIC Condemns Israeli Aggression

The OIC meeting condemned what it termed as a continuous provocation, abuse, daily severe attacks, and intrusions in gross violation of international norms and law.

The OIC underscored that Israel has no sovereignty over any area of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and that worshippers have the right to pray safely and freely.

According to the statement, Israeli officials must be held answerable for the consequences of their actions and systematic brutal assaults, designed to further escalate the situation.

The meeting asked the global community, particularly the UNSC to take immediate action and all necessary steps to stop the Israeli aggression.

The OIC emphasized the significance of continuing coordination with the African Union and Arab League to provide protection against systematic attacks of Israel.
