BEIRUT: Hezbollah on Tuesday said that Israel was dropping leaflets with very dangerous barcodes in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon.

The Lebanese group asked the residents to remain vigilant and not to open the barcodes or share them with others. It said that the barcodes could be used to withdraw all the information on the cellular phones and is harmful to the safety of the people.

Pictures went viral on social media showing leaflets with barcodes dropped by Israel’s military. The leaflets asked citizens to vacate areas where Hezbollah was storing arms in the Bekaa Valley.

Israel had issued similar calls for residents in south Lebanon and Beirut on Monday.

Meanwhile, at least six people were killed and 15 injured on Tuesday in an Israeli strike on Hezbollah’s stronghold in southern Beirut, a day after the deadliest strikes that killed more than 558 people in Lebanon, the health ministry said.

The “Israeli enemy raid on Ghobeiri in Beirut’s southern suburbs killed six people and injured 15,” Lebanon’s health ministry said in a statement.

The health ministry reported that the attack in the Ghobeiri neighborhood resulted in significant destruction, particularly to a residential building where the Israeli strikes hit two floors.
