UNITED NATIONS: Leaders and representatives from around the world have convened in New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), scheduled for September 18-19.

Among the attendees are heads of state and national representatives, all eager to engage in critical discussions and address pressing global issues.

A spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, representing Afghanistan, conveyed their hope for the summit to result in the lifting of sanctions imposed on their interim government. Bilal Karimi, the deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, emphasized that the achievements of the Islamic Emirate should also be taken into consideration during the summit. He pointed to the progress made in economic and security matters and urged the international community to recognize these realities and fulfil their responsibilities regarding the removal of sanctions and the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In a notable absence, Afghanistan will not be represented at the UNGA summit. This absence raises concerns and prompts political analysts to advocate for increased engagement between the Islamic Emirate and the international community to address the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.

Ahmad Khan Andar, a political analyst, expressed concerns over recent decrees imposed by the Islamic Emirate, particularly those restricting the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. These actions have caused significant apprehension both within Afghanistan and on the global stage. Andar emphasized the urgent need for dialogue and resolution to ensure the rights and well-being of the Afghan populace.

Fazal Rahman Oria, another political analyst, stressed the importance of Afghanistan reclaiming its position within the UN General Assembly. He highlighted the necessity for the Afghan people to have a voice and representation in such crucial international platforms.

Preceding the summit, the Secretary-General of the United Nations had announced the intention to discuss the situation of Afghan women during the meeting. This indicates a recognition of the need to address the challenges faced by women and girls in Afghanistan and work towards a more inclusive and equitable future for the country.
