Islamabad Women’s Team Beat Peshawar, Win Inaugural T20 Unity Cup Trophy

ISLAMABAD: The inaugural Unity Cup, a T20 cricket match between the women’s teams of Islamabad and Peshawar, brought the spirit of unity and empowerment to the National Cricket Ground in Islamabad. Both teams performed exceptionally, showing their skills with impressive boundary hits. Ultimately, the Islamabad women’s team clinched the trophy after a spirited battle.

Hosted by the Institute of Research and Reforms International in collaboration with the Rehman Malik Foundation, the Unity Cup exhibited the power of sports to inspire females and unite communities.

Chairman of IRR International and Rehman Malik Foundation Ali Rehman Malik expressed his delight at the event’s importance, saying that the Unity Cup exemplifies our commitment to empowering females and fostering solidarity among our people, a message that resonates deeply in these challenging times.

Spectators Enjoy Islamabad, Peshawar Match

As the Peshawar and Islamabad teams battled it out on the field, spectators were treated to a spectacle of skill and determination.

Umar Rehman Malik, the head of PPP Digital Media Islamabad, commended the initiative, underlining the talent and capabilities of young women champions from Peshawar and Islamabad. He said that in a moment of unity, players from both sides came together to symbolize the shared spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, reinforcing the message of harmony and inclusivity that the Unity Cup represents.

Director at IRR International, Riaz Ali Turi, said that the Unity Cup celebrated women’s cricket while also highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment and unity.

He said that this is a first-of-its-kind cricket game between Peshawar and Islamabad and IRR International is committed to organizing such events in future.
