ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board has upgraded three Islamabad United players to the Pakistan Super League’s top-tier Platinum category ahead of the PSL 11 auction next month, as the league prepares for expansion and a shift to an auction-based player selection system.

Islamabad United confirmed the upgrades through its official social media channels, announcing that Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, and Mohammad Nawaz have been moved into the league’s top-tier Platinum category.

The additions take the franchise’s total Platinum players to six, alongside captain Shadab Khan, fast bowler Naseem Shah, and all-rounder Imad Wasim.

Both Agha and Nawaz received major upgrades from their previous Silver categories, while Farhan was promoted from Supplementary Silver to Platinum.

Player category renewals

The PSL also released player category renewals across Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging groups, covering 73 national players linked with the six existing franchises, including defending champions Lahore Qalandars.

The Gold category contains the largest number of players, with 33 listed, while 11 players feature in the Diamond category. The Silver category includes 16 players shortlisted for retention, with Multan Sultans holding the highest number.

PSL 11 will mark a major milestone as the league expands from six to eight teams, with Hyderabad and Sialkot joining as new franchises. For the first time, the tournament will adopt a player auction format, replacing the traditional draft system.
