ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United have asserted their dominance in the Pakistan Super League, notching a record ninth consecutive win with a commanding six-wicket victory over Karachi Kings on Sunday at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The streak, spanning five wins from PSL 9 in 2024 and four from the ongoing PSL 10 in 2025, sets a new benchmark, further solidifying United’s dominance in the league’s history.
With a league-best franchise win percentage of 57.69 percent, just edging past Multan Sultans (56.96 per cent), and three championship titles (2016, 2018, 2024), Islamabad United now stand as the most successful side in PSL’s 10-year journey.
No other team has lifted the trophy more than twice, with Lahore Qalandars being the only other multiple-title winners.
Inspiring leadership
In their latest outing, United chased down 129 in 17.1 overs, thanks to captain Shadab Khan’s composed 47 off 40 deliveries.
Sahibzada Farhan chipped in with a quickfire 30 off 18, while Azam Khan anchored the chase with a solid 31.
Earlier, the bowlers restricted Karachi to 128/7, with Shadab (2-17) and Naseem Shah (2-29) leading the attack.
Tim Seifert was the top scorer for Karachi with 30 runs.
Shadab’s inspiring leadership, combined with a well-rounded squad including Colin Munro and Imad Wasim, has been key to United’s remarkable form.
They will now aim to extend their winning streak to 10 as they prepare to face Multan Sultans on 23 April in what promises to be a blockbuster clash.
