RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Islamabad United delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Peshawar Zalmi by 102 runs in the fifth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Islamabad United posted a mammoth total of 243 for 5, thanks to a blistering century by opener Sahibzada Farhan.

Despite the early loss of Andries Gous, who was run out for a duck in the second over, Farhan and Colin Munro launched a counter-attack that turned the game in United’s favour.

The pair put together a 144-run partnership off just 72 balls, with Munro scoring 40 off 27 deliveries before falling to Alzarri Joseph.

Farhan, however, carried on in sensational fashion, bringing up his maiden PSL century in only 49 balls—equalling the record for the fastest ton by an Islamabad United batter in PSL history.

He was eventually dismissed for 106 off 52 balls, an innings studded with 13 fours and five sixes.

Following the departure of the two set batters, Salman Ali Agha (30) and Azam Khan (16) added valuable runs in the middle.

Late contributions from Jason Holder (20* off 11) and Ben Dwarshuis (18* off 8) helped United reach an imposing total of 243 for 5.

In response, Peshawar Zalmi faltered early and never recovered. Chasing 244, they were bowled out for 141 in 18.2 overs.

Mohammad Haris was the lone bright spark for Peshawar Zalmi, scoring a fighting 87 off 47 balls, which included 12 fours and four sixes.

No other batter offered meaningful resistance, with six Peshawar Zalmi players failing to reach double digits.

Captain Babar Azam’s poor run continued, managing just one run before falling cheaply for the second consecutive match.
