ISLAMABAD: After heavy rains battered the city, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi underlined the urgent necessity for self-monitoring of drainage systems in low-lying regions of Islamabad. In order to stop water buildup, he pushed speedy completion of drainage work.

Teams from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) are working around the clock to ensure effective drainage and mitigate flooding risks.

They were instructed to monitor drains and waterways continuously, with additional staff and machinery deployed as needed. A coordinated response involved Assistant Commissioners, CDA officers, MCI teams, and emergency responders from 1122.
