ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, Sindh and Kashmir experienced rain with strong winds and thunderstorms, while heavy rain also recorded at some places during last 24 hours.
In the latest updates, PMD said that Islamabad has received 184mm rain at Saidpur, 99 mm rain at Golra, 48 mm rain at Bokra and 29 mm rain at Zero point. According to PMD, 54 mm rain has been recorded in Rawalpindi at Katcheri during last 24 hours. PMD said that 62 mm rain has been recorded in Narowal and 42 mm in Murree.
Flash floods expected
In Kashmir, Chattar Kalas has received 89mm rain, Bandi Abbaspur 81 mm rain and Muzaffarabad city 62 mm rain during last 24 hours, according to PMD.
PMD has predicted that heavy rains may generate flash floods in local streams of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Hill torrents of D.G Khan, Northeast Punjab and Kashmir on July 22.
Avoid unusual exposure
People are advised to avoid unusual exposure to vulnerable areas to avoid any untoward situation and keep updated about latest weather conditions, it further said.
It added that heavy downpour may cause urban flood in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Okara, Nowshera and Peshawar.
Heavy falls/windstorm and lightning may damage weak structures like roof/wall of Kacha houses, electric poles, bill boards, vehicles and solar panels during the forecast period, the PMD warned.
