ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police on Monday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) focal person on legal affairs Hassaan Niazi from outside the judicial complex in the federal capital, local media reported.
Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan, appeared before the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (PTI), alongside other PTI leaders, who were booked in a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act, to get bail.
Reportedly, the court granted Niazi bail till April 3. However, he was taken into custody.
PTI’s counsel Naeem Haider Panjotha said that Superintendent Police Nosherwan forcibly took Niazi away to Ramna police station even after they told the police that he had been granted bail by the court.
Niazi had been booked by CTD
A case was registered by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) under the Anti-Terrorism Act against 17 PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, after clashes between the police and PTI workers outside the judicial complex on Saturday.
