ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police made 3,484 arrests last month, targeting individuals allegedly involved in various criminal activities.
The arrests spanned a spectrum of offenses, including weapons and narcotics-related crimes, burglaries, auto theft, and other property crimes.
The law enforcement agency’s intensive efforts led to the recovery of stolen property valued at a substantial Rs. 164.4 million, exposing the depth of criminal involvement in diverse illegal undertakings.
Among those arrested were individuals linked to serious crimes such as dacoity, armed robbery, stabbing incidents, theft, car theft, and motorcycle theft. In November alone, Islamabad Police seized 45 cars and 82 motorcycles, effectively dismantling criminal operations and enhancing public safety.
The crackdown extended to the dissolution of criminal gangs, resulting in the apprehension of 114 individuals associated with 45 such groups during the same period.
Islamabad Police made significant strides in curbing drug-related offenses, arresting 232 drug dealers. This operation led to the confiscation of 60 kilograms of hashish, 77 kilograms of heroin, 1,460 grams of ice, and 1,054 bottles of alcohol.
Addressing the issue of illegal weapons, 160 individuals were arrested for possessing illegal weapons, leading to the recovery of 12 Kalashnikovs and guns, 132 pistols, and a substantial amount of ammunition.
In parallel efforts, Islamabad Police targeted proclaimed offenders involved in serious and other crime cases, apprehending 334 absconders in November.
Furthermore, 788 beggars, along with one facilitator, were apprehended, contributing to the overall maintenance of law and order.
Islamabad Police, witnessing a gradual decrease in the crime rate over recent months, call on citizens to play an active role in maintaining community safety by reporting any suspicious activities through the helpline 15 or the ICT 15 app.
As the city endeavours to establish a secure and peaceful environment, Islamabad Police urge all residents to join hands in making their city a bastion of peace.
