ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district and sessions court on Friday reserved its verdict on a petition by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to extend the suspension of his arrest warrants that were issued in a case pertaining to allegedly making threatening remarks against a judge.
On March 13, Senior Civil Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the former premier while hearing a case registered against him for using threatening language against ADSJ Zeba Chaudhry and the Islamabad police officials.
Today, Imran’s counsel Advocate Gohar Ali requested the judge to extend his client’s warrants to be extended to March 30, as his client was going to attend a hearing in the Toshakhana case at the Islamabad Katchehry, where this case was also being proceeded.

In a speech on August 20, 2022, Imran had criticised the police as well as the judiciary over the alleged custodial torture of PTI member Shahbaz Gill and announced that his party would file cases against Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry, then-Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan and the DIG.
Initially, the PTI chief was booked under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA). Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court (IHC) also initiated contempt of court proceedings against the ex-premier.
A month later, the IHC removed the terrorism charges against Imran and also pardoned him after he tendered an apology.
However, a similar case is pending before the sessions court, which was filed after the registration of a first information report (FIR) against him for making threatening remarks against the judge.
