ISLAMABAD: The authorities have opened Motorway M-1 from Islamabad to Burhan for all types of traffic after the fog started clearing.

The Motorway police announced to open the road after reduction in the foggy conditions. The public has been requested by the Motorway Police to avoid unnecessary travel in foggy weather and use fog lights while on road. The public has also been advised to maintain proper distance between the vehicles. Before starting the journey, help can be taken from helpline 130.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast cold and dry weather in most parts of the country. However, light rain and snowfall are expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan. Foggy conditions will likely persist in Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.
As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country. A westerly shallow wave is also present in the upper parts of the country.
Air quality in different cities in Pakistan
The air quality in the capital of Punjab, i.e., Lahore, is 390 US AQI; in Bahawalpur it is 240, 204 in Muridke, 187 in Rawalpindi, and 152 in Sialkot. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 198 US AQI, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 172. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 469 in Swabi and 78 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met), a maximum of 6 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 10°C in Lahore, 16°C in Karachi, 7.5°C in Peshawar, 0°C in Quetta, and -1°C in Gilgit.

Today’s Recorded Lowest Minimum Temperatures (°C): Leh -08, Kalam, Skardu Kalat and Ziarat -05 & Gupis -04.
