ISLAMABAD: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) announced on Tuesday the release of 340,200 cusecs of water from various rim stations, following an inflow of 439,200 cusecs. This substantial release is aimed at managing water distribution across the river system.
At the Tarbela Dam, the water level stands at 1,521.99 feet, which is 123.99 feet above the dead level of 1,398 feet. The inflow at the dam was recorded at 259,300 cusecs, while the outflow was 190,000 cusecs. In contrast, the water level at Mangla Dam on the River Jhelum is 1,201.10 feet, 153.10 feet above its dead level of 1,050 feet, with inflow and outflow recorded at 40,200 cusecs and 10,500 cusecs, respectively.
Water releases from major stations include Kalabagh at 255,300 cusecs, Taunsa at 196,300 cusecs, Guddu at 145,400 cusecs, and Sukkur at 76,700 cusecs. Additionally, 55,100 cusecs were released from the River Kabul at Nowshera, and 57,500 cusecs from the River Chenab at Marala. These releases are crucial for maintaining water levels and managing the river system’s flow effectively.
