Irish Defense Minister Simon Coveney, in New York for a UN Security Council meeting, said he would meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Thursday to discuss the incident. Ireland’s President Michael D. Higgins said that as people, we take great pride in our unbroken peacekeeping record with the United Nations. However, we must never forget the risk that comes with this work, he added.
