BAGHDAD: Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has denounced a US strike that killed a militia commander in Baghdad, calling the strike a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and reiterating calls for US troops to leave the country.
“Assaults targeting our security forces go beyond the spirit and letter of the mandate that created the global coalition,” Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said, noting that the America had bypassed the government of Iraq to carry out the attack.
The US authorities said that the target, a senior commander with the PMF named Hajj Mushtaq Talib al-Saidi, was involved in planning assaults on US forces.
